Talamo is a modular installation, a wooden structure measuring approximately 118 x 49 inches, coated with pigmented concrete. The project originated from a transcription error I made in a notebook, while copying a passage from Gargantua about the Abbey of Thélème—an ideal architecture built without walls, where the motto is: Do what thou wilt. I came across the same mistake in another note, this time quoting The Highest Poverty by Giorgio Agamben, also discussing Thélème. It felt like encountering an old acquaintance. I often find that images come to me without being summoned—they simply arrive. So it felt natural to work on Talamo, or rather, on the image that my mistake had conjured, linking it to an invented architecture. Thus, Thélème became Talamo: a space of domestic sacredness. Talamo took on the colors of an acid dream—green, purple, and orange—shades far from the purity of the primaries, and assumed the dimensions of the sacred, inhabiting the space of a niche.
